Meet the Staff

Erik Salomon

Owner / Head Technician

Erik received his bachelors degree from Five Towns College in May of 2010. The Valedictorian of his graduating class, he majored in jazz and Commercial music with a concentration in audio recording technology. In addition to his top academic rank, he also received the Audio Recording Technology Award at commencement.

While a student, Erik began pursued an interest in musical instrument repair through independent study. After landing an apprenticeship at a local shop, he was soon repairing instruments for many of his classmates and even a few of his professors. By the time of graduation, Erik was overseeing a busy in-store repair shop for the country’s largest music retailer. Before leaving to pursue his own business, he served as an “area specialist” for the corporation. In this capacity he assisted with the hiring and training of new technicians within the company.

In 2016 Erik focused his efforts on building Guitar Repair Long Island. What began as moonlighting from a single repair bench squeezed into a small one bedroom apartment has grown rapidly. G.R.L.I. now employs multiple people, has become a dealer for many leading brands, and is the areas largest and most respected place for fretted instrument repair.

As a musician, Erik draws from a wealth of personal experience to relate to clients in all phases of their playing career; He has performed with original rock groups, award wining collegiate ensembles, cover and wedding bands, and solo acoustic shows. He has done gigs ranging from open-mic night slots up to multi state tours. Erik has even independently released three albums of original music. Apart from music, he is passionate about running, rock climbing, hiking, travel, and his pet cats.

Always seeking to further his craft, Erik frequently attends luthier training seminars and has visited the factories of many of the country’s leading guitar manufacturers. He prides himself on his professionalism, integrity, and of course on the high quality of his work. An extremely capable technician, and business owner, rest assured that whatever your repair needs are, your instrument will be in very good hands.
