Backline Tech Services

What is a backline tech?

working stage side at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall

A good backline tech is an essential component of a professional band.  At any major concert you will see people swarming the stage to set up and check equipment before the band take the stage.  Afterwards, these same people return to quickly and efficiently tear down after the set is over.  They carefully pack the gear and make it safe for transport to the next gig.

Often times you will even see the bands guitar tech. during the show!  He appears from the wings to seamlessly collect instruments from the performers and hand off freshly tuned axes.  He then returns to his bench side stage to make sure he’s ready for whatever the band might need for the next song.  These technicians and roadies are the bands backline crew and they are crucial to a smooth performance.

You’ve got enough to worry about on stage.  Your gear shouldn’t be one of them! No one wants to be stuck playing “the tuning song” several times a set as you helplessly watch your audience disappears to go buy another drink instead of listening. Or to risk a bad review because somehow your gear wasn’t working right; perhaps you just didn’t have time to get your amp or pedal board dialed in correctly during a short stage change over, or you didn’t realize that your strap button had gotten lose during the last gig and now it won’t stay on.  We’ve all been there, but it doesn’t have to be that way!
